LINKS75 heads to the mainland and continues towards familiar territory – Kent and Sandwich. We fall asleep with the pub’s Christmas Disco ringing in our ears. Slightly deaf we make our way to the1st hole – 1 degree plus, shining sun and the ground slightly frozen. We slip over on the tee and the ball bounces endlessly away – long-johns on this morning! A fantastic `autumn´ cleaning awaits us. Remarkable fairways and greens provide an early Christmas present. Shores – we play straight towards St George’s.
The sun conceals our flaws until the final scores are written down. We strike the balls short and let the frost take care of the rest. Links delight. The first nine pass in the knowledge that the Sandwich-birdie has been negotiated. Dunes take us home.
Character on every hole. Putt for eagle but end in par. Bunkers with sleepers – from initial surprise to real amazement. Mr J wins 4 and 3. Fantastic. The first Advent. Winter golf followed by luncheon in the warmth of the clubhouse.
