Hunstanton Golf Club

Anticipated Links Experience:
A classic championship links course on England’s east coast. Sleeper-lined bunkers already at the 1st hole. The 7th – a par 3 – is a stand-out hole that arouses both love and joy. A warm atmosphere with wonderful natural scenery. The course’s location by the Wash means that you can even see the sun go down over the water. A links course that can be played in any season, but perhaps at its best on a warm summer’s evening.

Best hole:
par3: 7th hole
par4: 18th hole
par5: 15th hole

Worthy of note:
The unique triple hole in one by Bob Taylor in 1974 on the 16th hole. Read, enjoy, and swing.

History:
Hunstanton Golf Club was formed in 1891. Hunstanton has the classic ‘out and back’ design along two sides of a longitudinal ridge. The 12th, 13th and 14th holes are played over the ridge. The course has been changed a number of times, with 40 bunkers being added in 1907 on the recommendation of James Braid. Further changes were carried out in 1950 under the reign of the secretary E.W.StG. Spencer, a.k.a. `The Monster´! Plateaued greens were built on the 6th, 7th and 8th holes, as well as controversial,  but quite necessary changes on the last two holes, whose earlier placement had caused numerous unpleasant situations. Prior to these changes the 18th green lay right in front of the 1st tee! Today the course is of championship class and has over the years been host to a number of important tournaments, amongst others; 6 British Ladies, 3 English Amateur Championships and the Brabazon Trophy 5 times.
