Seacroft
Anticipated Links Experience:
A rugged links course with a number of holes of the strongest character. The course is, however, somewhat uneven which means that a strong card becomes even stronger and a weak one even weaker. Up on the ridge at the 14th hole the view over the North Sea is impressive – especially if bad weather is on its way.
Best holes:
par3: 10th hole
par4: 8th hole
par5: 13th hole
Worthy of Note:
“It´s an abslute gem….it exemplifies the classic simplicity of links architecture,” Donald Steel in the book “Classic Golf Links”.
The 8th hole is a remarkable hole where the risk-taker hangs out one’s drive over a passing wave and with a weak draw places it perfectly for one’s approach shot.
History:
When the club was formed in 1895 the course consisted of only nine holes. Five years later the course was completed with nine additional holes designed by Willie Fernie. Today more than half of the course’s holes are originals. The club unveiled a new clubhouse in 2005, which stands on the same spot as the 1904-original.
