Like the 17th hole abyssal greenbunkers, Royal Cinque Ports eats mercilessly up the graphite in the scorecard during the final 9 holes. A fantastic finish to the opening LINKS75 adventure.

The British spring weather showed its best side, mostly sunny and relatively calm winds. Consistently very good greens that invited low wedges and long putts up steep slopes. Of the introductory courses Deal excels  as a tough opponent. Length, undulating fairways and brutal bunkers keeps concentration and joy at peak. A course you want to master and score low.

But also opening Hayling, with its Royal Birkdale similar clubhouse and Royal St Lytham’s  opening par3, collects charm points. A tricky links seasoned with coconut-scented gorse. The holes are general semi-long at arm’s lengths distance – but easy as they look, the hunting pits will take care of the shots and place them where no one ever asked for.

Littlestone 11e och 9e green

Littlestone 11th and 9th green

At Littlestone you want to sit at the windowtable with your “Selection of Dessert & Cheese” and long until you become a member and incorporated in the community. An everyday links of classic cut. The type of links you want as your home course. To be able to enjoy everyday.

LINKS75 – the journey has begun.
