Castle Stuart Golf Links
Anticipated Links Experience:
Resembles a modern painting of a classic motif. Alongside the Moray Firth, with Inverness in the background and the clubhouse as an Art Deco anchor on a ridge, you are guided carefully round a stylish, modern links course. There are wide landing areas, run-offs and a little too much correctness. Incredibly high quality everywhere from the clubhouse, to the tees and the greens, but it lacks soul – tweed. Nevertheless very tasteful – just like a white birthday cake on a pedestal.
Best Holes:
par 3 -14th hole
par 4 – 3rd hole
par 5 – 18th hole
Worthy of Note:
Make sure to enjoy the clubhouse, which is a fantastic creation with a superb view – from both the bar and the showers! At the 4th hole spare a glance at the castle in the background and the crown that is Castle Stuart’s hallmark.
History:
Mark Parsinen’s second creation, the first being Kingsbarns. In this case together with Gil Hanse. A project carried out with care, where nature has priority. Behind the architecture is a crystal-clear vision of a modern course being accessible for everyone but still offering challenges and difficulty, not for their own sake but to be mastered.
The course has been host to the Scottish Open over the last few years.
