Moray Golf Club

Anticipated Links Experience:
A rugged links course, which contains elements of sand dunes, gorse, heath, burns, as well as the nearby town. Views over the sea, the RAF and the lighthouse on the horizon. A picturesque experience with a great finishing stretch from the 14th onward. On the 18th hole you get the impression that you are at the Open surrounded by the closing hole spectator stands, but if you hit the ball to the right you end up in the town.

Best Holes:
par 3 – 17th hole
par 4 – 12th hole
par 5 – 17th hole

Worthy of Note:
The course winds its way round the nearby RAF’s take-off and landing runways. Warning –  supersonic shock.

History:
The club was established in 1889. The Old Course was laid out by Old Tom Morris, who remained a frequent visitor and played a number of exhibition matches over the years. During the first few years a number of distillery workers were among the members. Something that has characterised the club. Formerly it was Glen Grant that became the club’s “local whisky” but these days it is Macallan.
In 1979 the new 18th hole on the New Course was opened, having been designed by Sir Henry Cotton.
