Royal St. Davids
Anticipated Links Experience:
Par for the course is 69 and it plays 6,600 yards from the back tees. A classic links course with 7 par 4s over 400 yards. Definitely a tough nut to crack. With Snowdonia and Harlech Castle in the background the course has unique surroundings. Hang around and really enjoy the 16th tee where Tremadog Bay forms the backdrop for other holes. Nevertheless it is the last nine holes which offer a powerful links feeling.
Best Holes:
par3: 11th
par4: 15th
par5: 7th
Worthy of Note:
In 1994 Fredrik Jacobson won the British Youth Open Amateur Championship.
History:
The club wasfounded in 1894 by Harold Finch-Hatton. As Scotland had St Andrews and England St Georges, he thought that St Davids would be a suitable name – historic branding. In 1935 the club was inducted into Royal company when the Prince of Wales was accepted as club captain. The district where the club is located is called Harlech – the name the club is referred to as by locals. Over the years the course has been host for several big championships. In 2013 the R&A will be returning in August to Harlech with the Jacques Leglise Trophy.
