At 3pm we are standing ready to tee off at Hayling.

Immediately after the President Putters cup. The flags have been placed in the far corners and the greens have been cut down to the state that putting was a gamble. The weather is quite chilly. Just a week before it had been 20 degrees Celsius, but now the winds are pushing the temperature down to +8.

8 opening holes of varying quality, but then five amazing holes appear. The 9th an 10th lead us towards the south easters edge. The ninth hole is a 406 yard long challenge where you are left blind brom tee. The 10th is a 254 yards inviting for birdie but giving bogeys. 11th hole, par 3, 144 yards and an impossible green.  Four bunkers that’s covering the front and left side of the green. To be able to even consider making a par you have to carefully chose an iron club that will carry precisely behind the bunkers and then roll towards the flag. The 12th hole, 453 yards is a tough one. When the left side packed with sailing yachts, the fairway is small and uphill towards the green golf do get a bit harder. Mr J can proudly say that he won with 8/7. The temperature have sunk when we are to tee off at the 13th. We realise that it is a 33 yard wide landing area that’s 220 yards away, in headwind. Cliffs on both sides. Just a tiny bit of spin and the ball would be gone forever. From that plateau we shall move to the next hole which green seemingly lies in the middle of the village. Immense.
