Luncheon at Littlestone

17th green

After a quick visit at the proshop in Rye we reach littlestone

In front of us is the best junior player in the shire of Kent. +4 handicap. Before noon they played foursome in the yearly match against the best ladies of the shire. First hole, 299 yards thet is with link standards quite compliant. We tee off using iron cubs whilst the juniors are using drivers to reach the green. After only 2 holes we realised that this is a course we shall return to. A wonderfull links experience with the channel behind a hedge and kummel from Wolfschmidt in the bar.

Very undulated greens that really picks up the speed of the ball. Difficult. The par 3s show signs of fantastic architecture and are designed by no less than Alister MacKenzie. long tee shots, densely populated by bunkers and tee’s that are slightly above the greens creating optical illusions of easy pars. Mr J’s victory by 5/4

It ends with the 16th hole, par 4 and 469 yards long. Normaly seen as impregnable but with tailwind it has gotten possible. 17th the last and most macabre par 3. Bunkers are stationed all around the green that is 173 yards away. The channel is behid us with and is a true panorama sight. The 18th is a 479 yards par 5, a wonderfull walk towards Luncheon with a befitting meal of Honey Roast Gammon with Parley Sauce
