All of a sudden everything feels so wide. We get lost in a maze of Beauty Salons, Laundry Room and Competition Office, before we reach first tee and a starter who thoroughtly explains that we actually are not good enough to play from back tee but that we can do it anyway. We chose yellow. With the surfers in Booby’s Bay behind us we choose the driver.
5 par 4s measure 420 yards or above. We made a good choice. Harry S Colt were in 1924 offered to design the course from scratch, That today is owned by the Gammon family and is one of the more famous golf resorts in England. The course takes us down towards the sea where the fourth hole’s green is facing the Atlantic ocean. Next time we will have no need to visit the traps set up by Colt along the fairway. The view however, is something to remember us. Colt’s sandpits keep going at us, all strategically placed with stairs leading down. After the 10th we are met by the rare sight of a “half way house”, really appreciated.
11th – a wonderfull par 3 that really puts our skills to test. At the 12th we succesfully hit the machine department with an escaped hook. Mr J 6/5 – Oh dear! Finishing 18th puts both the tee skills, short game and strategy to a test. A great hole that brings us back to the resort. Links, but still not the pure linksfeeling
