Aim for the curch! First up par 3 – straight up against a medieval church with overgrown graves that’s scarier than two shanks. An opening between two dunes, noisy trains and balleating gorse. The ocean hits us at second tee and displays a wonderful landscape seen only during low tide. Suddenly it’s classic links, split fairways, short tricky par 4s, crossing holes. Hole 4-6 takes us in a loop, we staggers out with a birdie and a par. On the side of the tee there’s a strandedfishingboat. The holes gets longer, the air colder and the mist have crept up on the fairway. We start to navigate solely by the marker posts. We advance towardds hidden greens, continue to master with par and birdie. 11th hole leads us via a tunnel through the dunes onto a small green.
- Approach against 11th green
We almost reach the 13th green from tee even though we are shooting straight through a white wall. 6/5 to Mr J. 15th is a short par 3 although surrounded by eleven bunkers. On 17th green we got the balls to drop dead beside the flag and realise what a wonderful view it is. This is somewhere you want to play a summer evening with 8 clubs and two golfballs. 18th is a classical ending for a classical linksexperience.
